Saddle Preferences/Guidance

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Saddle Preferences/Guidance

I recently acquired a Specialized Elite that came with a Specialized 2005 Gel Avatar saddle. I don't like it, really. Before that, I rode 18 years on a Raleigh team bike with some other non-specified Specialized saddle, which was okay, but not great.

So, I'm looking to upgrade. What's good, what's not?

After that, search the forum as there are lots of saddle threads. FWIW, I switched recently to a Selle San Marco Aspide Arrowhead and I've never been happier. If your sit bones are shaped just like mine, you'll be comfortable too.

my dad loves that saddle, he got when he went for his fitting. Imagine a darn old PUCH with lower end componets, and a brand new terry fly

I have been very happy with the San Marco Era on my road bike and the San Marco Rolls on my commuter.

You might hate them as much as I like them.
