Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

At the food co-op today, one of the employees mistook me for someone that shouldn't be using the self-checkout.

The air-chilled, free-range, organic, massaged-weekly chicken just wouldn't scan, and they assumed that I was doing something wrong. There was some vindication when they couldn't get it to scan, either, and had to manually punch in the bar code... but still - oof, I'm not that old, ya bastard.

Not a Flair (manual lever), but spring lever -

Still love it. I'll never go back to a pump-driven machine.
Oh, yeah, I forgot. That machine is so cool.

Pro 800?

Is this an Ultegra level device or Dura-Ace?

Interesting repair on that corner. Never seen a dovetail used to hold the same piece of wood together.

I just asked my wife if I could buy the Profitec lever machine and she said, “Why not? As much coffee as you drink, it’s probably a bargain.”

The panels are mine, as in I made them/make them to sell to others with compatible chassis. I really liked the character of this piece of wood, including the flaws, so I used a contrasting walnut bow-tie to both stabilize and highlight the area -

I use a flair, but only on weekends. My body doesn't tolerate unfiltered coffee everyday anymore.
The Mrs has an espresso every morning though.

On my ride yesterday, Garmin was not showing speed, cadence which was a first. Did a reset and it made things worse when power dropped out. Did another reset and no love, plus lost average cadence. When home I did a full device reset, losing all my sensors and connections. So it was less than fun getting everything set up again for three bikes - first world problem. Don’t have a clue about the malfunction other than maybe adding Di2 and a few extra functions was too much for its little brain. I doubt riding in the downpour the other day would have done it or else it would be totally messed up. Quite the riddle why it happened.
