Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's a shame that over the past so many years, arguments between conservatives and liberals have been reduced to childish name calling.

Everybody just needs to calm the **** down.

I think the last time I checked, it was still a all volunteer military service. Anyone who joins the military and thinks he or she will not be in a any kind of conflict, are dreaming. When I joined the Air Force, I knew someday I might be involved in some kind of conflict in the world. AND, when asked who wanted to go to the first Gulf War, I volunteered. You and Sheehan are doing a great dis-service to those who volunteer for their country. President Bush doesn't decide who stays and goes. There are politician's sons and daughters in Iraq. Most of us want freedom in the world and not tyranny. I'm sorry, I forgot, it's all about the oil and the oil is flowing into the U.S. I guess that's why gas prices are so high.

Stop your complaining and move to Canada.

LBJ's bike would use Longhorns for handlbars.

Clinton would be riding some sweet lil' Italian number.

Teddy Roosevelt's would be a Gary Fisher Cake for charging up San Juan Hill.

Jimmy Carter's bike would be a tricycle with a trailer hitch for hauling lumber and building supplies.

Now I'm starting to imagine what sort of bike you'd get if MTV's "Pimp My Ride" got ahold of it.

So, I am a liberal yet I volunteered to serve in the Army, to serve my country, I served under Republican commander in chiefs and I took part in Operation Just Cause in Panama. I served as an 11B2P (airborne infantry) with the 1st Ranger Battalion, I did not seek some desk job to keep me in the rear areas. I took an oath to protect my country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I never tried to get out of my duties yet I cannot be trusted to protect this country? My view is this, I served my country to protect everyone's right to have freedom of speech and the ability to express their views without having to be worried about being bullied into following the crowd.

Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11, and nobody was against the war in afghanistan. We are against the pointless war in iraq.

9/11 does not equal Iraq, no matter how many times Bush and Cheney try to make the connection.

Actually, he DID decide who was staying during the war of his generation. I'll give you a hint, his initials are GW.

I'm a ex-army airborne reservist myself.... and liberal. College ROTC did not have as much influence on me as my leftist professors. Such is the way of large state schools.

Lance is against the war BTW. Its documented fact.

This differs from the preceeding 8 years of rabid Clinton-bashing in what way? - other than the substance of the grievances.

Taking this thread on to the road less traveled, I heard something about the ride with Bush being turned into a Discovery channel special to air this week. Anybody know the details. I can't find it anywhere...

I hear you , but come on dude it's not the same. Granted there was a large portion of the pop. that didn't like Clinton but you can 't honestly say he spawned the type of hate that you guys feel for GW. I didn't hate Clinton , I thought he was a total dirt bag but I didn't hate em. Listen to what the leaders in the Dem. party have had to say about Bush. He is Hitler , he's the most dangerous man in the world , he's the real terrorist , he knew about 9/11 before it happened , etc. Come on
Clinton caused many of his on problems but you never heard this type of rhetoric from the Rep top brass.
Hell GW and HWB have befreinded Clinton on many occasions. I doubt anybody in the Dem party will ask GW to go paly golf when his term is up. We can disagree on this but IMHO it's not a fair comparison.

I'm honestly not saying that as a blind follower , I don't agree with everything Bush has done as pres. I just think we are safer with his proactive outlook on this war on terror. Remember we didn't start this crap.

Now go ride your bike!!!!

Thanks.

I was wondering if there was a soccer mom tandem recumbent with a dvd screen on the rear fairing for Junior to watch SpongeBob while mom takes her spinning class on the road.

The country and this board have the same problem: they both group politics and religion together.
