Bib tights
 

I ride a lot in the morning and live in an area where it's cold often, so I like to wear long bib tights with a chamois. I am looking for a new pair. My major complaint is that the bibs tights are frankly not very tight in the crotch area. It doesn't help that I lost some weight so they are increasingly too lose, especially in the male parts area. It's very uncomfortable for me when walking around. I am having to adjust myself all the time. What's more, the tights sometime get caught around the saddle. I have felt this way since I bought these. Any of you have good luck with some bib tights? Do you have ones that are truly tight and snug? This is less of a problem for me with my shorts, especially my Assos ones.

I have the same problem. I have Le Col bib tights. One pair is worse than the other. Only solution I’ve found is pulling the thighs of the legs up as far as they’ll go. And that’s not perfect.

My bib short of choice is the Pearlizumi Quest and you can often find them on sale at a reasonable price. Good quality and value.

Note that the OP was asking about tights, not shorts and I personally stopped buying the PI bib shorts as they got cheap and eliminated the seamed edge on the shoulder strap. Now I find the strap just bunches up into an uncomfortable band. I decided to spend the cash and I use Assos now.

@OP. FWIW, it just sounds like your tights are stretched out and are done. I had no luck funding a bib tight that was just simply a lightweight lycra with no insulation. I gave up and just started using my leg warmers instead, which do the same thing essentially. I do like my Pearl Izumi tights that have a medium insulation, they are warm down to 30F or so and I'll wear at temps below 50.

I found that The Black Bibs run small. Maybe try them. They have thermal bib tights and knickers.

And you could always use short bibs and leg warmers. Very handy if you start out in a chill but it warms up during the ride. That often happens when I am on tour.

Ekoi has some nice sales and different styles of bib knickers and bib tights. Some of them are lighter weight and don't have the felted "roubaix" fabric. As far as fit goes, each brand has its own fit chart. You might want to write your measurements down and go from there.

Or chamois-less bib tights over bib shorts. I find tights ALWAYS creep down. Bad enough hooking the loose tights on the nose of the saddle without hooking something more sensitive!

Sounds like you may both be wearing bibs that are too large.

That is the solution. Legs are less sensitive to cold than the groin area is. I've been using bib tights over bib shorts for cold-weather rides for many decades, and I've never found myself thinking that I'd be more comfortable with only one layer of insulation or less support at the groin.
