Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Too funny!!!!!
Bibi wants a Litespeed, easier to hold over your head for pics!
And she wants the CF soles on her new road shoes too!

I think you've created a monster there! We're already planning rides for future weekends. We figure it would be a really good bonding experience for you and the kids!
She's a charm!

Okay, I'll get my pics in some time today. And by 'some time' I mean 'not now'

For those who asked, the pro photos will be at https://www.digiproofs.com password:bridge but I don't see anything as of whatever time it is now

Ah, the miniskirt. It made a showing on Saturday nite.

Were there really covered bridges and rolling hills? I hadn't noticed!

A few started before the photo was taken.

I did pretty good with the names yesterday but I'll leave it up to some other brave soul to try and put names to faces here.

Will try and get the rest of the photos up tonight, including ...
... more of lunch
... folks standing around at the first bridge
... the infamous juggling of cows (ice cream does come from cows, afterall)
How's that for a teaser?

OK...did anyone see or talk with these riders???

1) 'Mark' - middle aged skinny guy on a Bianchi track bike? He did the whole ride in one gear! Very nice and talkative fellow from Montgomery Co., MD. He lost two cleat bolts and would leave his shoe on the bike at rest stops - walk around with one shoe on and one shoe off! We met up with him when we stopped at an undesignated gas station for a restroom break.

2) elderly lady on a Bike Friday folding bike. She must have been at least 70 years old. Did the long route!

Two bad things:

After the last water stop, local MF in a blue Mustang wants to pass long line of strungout riders on narrow 2 lane country road. Horse and buggy comming the other way. Moron pulls out, floors it and the buggy has to slow and move over to keep from getting hit by MF.

Crash after last water stop. Guy was sprawled out face down on the road with about 6 other riders attending to him.

I gathered up my favorites from the big lot I took. I tried to take as many pictures of the group as I could but Breakaway Paul and the A-Group posse just couldn't sit still! If you want larger versions or want to see if I have one of yourself, just ask. If I didn't get your picture it is because you were too damn fast!

Dinner the night before. Carb loading, oh yea!

A rare glimpse of the elusive Breakaway Paul with Grasschopper passing.

And here comes CycleDeac. Nice to see someone my age!

A face only a mother could love.

Can't really see it, but the Ben&Jerrys cow jersey RoadToNowhere wore was very fitting for this ride.

Oh jeez, who brought the cool kid?! cydewaze and juf2m at the first stop.

Hey, it's the Mikes! mirona & MikeR

And the OCP award goes to..... gravityslip (had to touchup the helmet )

gravityslip earns his name as he slips away from us anchors.

Walk, don't run, to your nearest covered bridge!

The girls. What is there to say that the picture doesn't already convey?!

What great scenery.

KirkeIsWaiting, RoadToNowhere, and CycleDeac charging the bridge.

...and then MikeR, but I was really taking a picture of the food sign!

Up the hill we have: CycleDeac and RoadToNowhere

...superdex (when dropping a buggy is an understatement)...

...and KirkeIsWaiting.

Yea, that's gotta feel good.

How cool was this lady?

Not one to be left out...

A much needed lunch break. Finally caught up with the A's!

Until they got bored and took off again

Oh yea, over-the-shoulder shot. Bibi through the bridge.

First thought: Emerald City... think Wizard of Oz, people.

JugglerDave: Strike a pose!

On your left! The kids were great and waved to everyone.

Drafting the buggy...

still drafting...

Hey, it's me!

Ah, the last covered bridge. What a great theme for a ride.

The much talked about mother of Mirona. Yea, she's my favorite

So, it turns out that JugglerDave can keep his name!

Driving home through a small town in PA and what do I find? A TANK!

Rest stop on the way home. 6+ hour drive! Beautiful

Whew! Great ride to everyone, but I have to admit that I am a bit partial to my C-Group comrades. What a blast. Can't wait to do this again.

Those pictures are awesome! Mirona - it was great having you to ride with as well. Us youngsters have to stick together;there's no telling what the older folks might do. Awesome job of taking pictures from the saddle too. I'm pretty impressed.
