1st ride on my new Cannondale R1000
It was all good untill a budget rental truck honked at me, yelled at me and then tried to run me off the road. The sad part about it all is that it threw me off and at the next stop sign I forgot to unclip. You know once you know your are falling there is really nothing you can do. All I could think of was how to prevent any damage to the bike.
I got a small scratch on the plastic part of the seat and a little scratch on my rear derailer but that is all.. And I was going 21 in a 25 when it happened so it is not like I was causing that much of a problem.. damn drivers.. oh well.. |
bummer - but how it ride?
|
very fast compared to the mountian bike I was riding. I was MUCH easier to keep a high cadance on. I shaved 4 min off of my 8 mile route.. so I am happy all around

All bikes get scuffed and dinged eventually. Better that the bike show some signs of usage than look like it's been a living room decoration.

you lucky b45t4rd! i so wanted an R1000 but settled on an R700. Just couldn't justify the $800 price difference. But boy, did I really like the way the R1000 was equipped. I hope you like it. sorry about the misfortune with the truck.

You are a lucky stump, I'll offer you $5.00 via Paypal if you want to part with it now.
:D |
have fun, I love my r800.

man when i got my sarthe i blew a tube the first day, and another tube the next day, got it fixed and was riding then has a lowspeed crash with my looka3.1 pedals. i bought some 290tpi tires and got some good gomitallia tubes no problems yet :knock on wood:
enjoy your new bike. |
I did not intend on spending what I did, but the r1000 was the nicest ride of all the bikes I tried so I could not pass it up.. It was 10% off and the owner gave me free shoes with my speedplay pedals... (going to take a while to get used to those)

http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...id=38147&stc=1 this is a close up of my scratch... but a lot of what you see is dirt. http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...id=38148&stc=1 ok I give up with posting images inline.. but here a links :-) |
I dinged my Trek 2300 in like four places (rear derailer, seat, quick release, and STI lever) within the first two weeks. It's just the way things go.

Enjoy your C-dale, I love mine, even if it's Heavy, Slow and Unattractive. (Sounds like a few of my dates) Steve W. |
With the pedals mine is at 17 1/4 pounds... but you add the weight of the cleats for the speedplays and it goes up a bit
|
Very nice bike, the color is bad ass. I wasn't able to swing the $400 from a R900 to R1000, but it's got the same great frame and I'm really liking the Campy components, mine is just a couple lbs heavier.

my pics were great, but the images were real big so I had to use MS paint to scale them and it messed them up. I will move the pics to my other pc with photoshop and make them nice later.

How's that Poggio seat? It looks so chunky and out of place on such a sleek machine.
