Tour de Paws - Charity Ride in Upstate SC

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just heard from a BF member coming down from Tennessee for this gig and want to share the compassion for animals-in-need and the bike passion thing with everyone....

The Tour de Paws is a Metric Century to benefit our county animal shelter (a fine facility run by dedicated people). Tour de Paws Info

If you are anywhere near this part of the world and are able to make it, please join us for the day...

For somewhat-related heart-warming photos and stories, see this thread. (And be sure to jump to the last page to see photos of 'Betty'!)

Hey Ostuni,

Let's set the place and time for breakfast. You pick.

I'd like to meet there and follow you over to the ride start. I can then just leave for home from there. I'm going to do lodging on the (really) cheap , but I'll come to wherever the meetup is.

Look forward to seeing you and any other bikeforums riders!

Bob

either 'papa sam's' or 'the skillet' - both are greasy spoon diners with unique charms and extra good eats....

I wish I would have looked for this earlier. I rode in the Tour de Paws and had a great time. It was the first group ride of that size that I've participated in. I stuck near the rear so as to stay out of the way and watch how it all worked.

Either of you planning on riding the Tour of Hope in Greenville on Sept. 24? Sounds like a good chance to hit some new roads.

Sorry we missed meeting you, it was indeed a nice ride. I stuck near the rear because I'm slow

It was nice meeting Ostuni and putting a face to a forum member. He looks nothing like Vito Corleone, BTW. More like Tessio (just kidding! )

i'll do a thread for that ride and see who else here we might get to meet at papa's that morning?
