Slime Lite tubes?
 

I get a lot of flats. I'd heard they didn't make Slime for road bikes, but I ran across these and was curious:

Do you know whats giving you flats in the first place, cause that could go a long way towards preventing them in the future.

If you throw one of those in your tire consider your tire a gonner, that stuff would ruin tires. Buy one first and cut it in half and you'll know what I'm talking about, some the nastiest stuff I've ever seen.

I had some slime tubes on my old schwinn (27 X 1.25 tires).
They were horrible.
1) Weigh a ton.
2) For the first 5 miles or so it felt like the slime had settled on the bottom side of the tire where it ran to while sitting between rided. Resulted in a very "out of balance" feel on the ride.

Put a tougher tire on if you must. Armadillo or something like that.

Urgh, no slime tubes, they bite. I bought a bike that had them already installed, after a month, the slime got up into the valve stem causing it to stick open, I trashed it after that, never to go back.

hmmm - ok I guess I won't bother then. Some of the roads I ride on have a lot of construction in the area so there's a lot of debris. I had a small wire puncture through the side wall last time - an area of the tire not protected even with the kevlar beaded models.

i use slime on my mtn bike b/c i hate changing tires in the trail. On the road, I just carry a spare tube. I rarely have flats b/c i watch where i am going. In the trails the thorns seem to cause flats and you cnat avoid them.

In the trails the thorns seem to cause flats and you cant avoid them. BTW, i use slime tubes and not the squeeze tube to put in a regular inner tube. That stuff is messy. Inspect the tires on you roadie before you ride.

I know you made up your mind already but here's my 2 cents...save your 2 cents and don't buy those tubes. The biggest problem with Slime tubes in road tires is that they don't work above 60 to 65 PSI; if you get the tinniest of holes and the leak seals as soon as you try to inflate above 60psi the high pressure air just blows the sealant right out of the hole and pffft your leaking again. Of course when this happens you have a nice green mess inside your tire and rim. Plus Slime tubes quality is poor, their Presta valves suck. I do use a Slime tube in my rear mtb tire and it works great on that.

Specialize makes a self sealing tube called the Airlock but I've never used them so cannot attest to them, but I heard they work very well.

I use to live in the Mojave Desert of Calif and Goatheads murdered my tires and found that only Specialize Armadillos worked, not anyother tire even when combined with Mr Tuffy's and Slime tubes.
