Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

what the fork?

Sorry I could not resist

I'm looking at a cinelli super corsa frame and the forks are made of steel. Columbus Neuron. Is this typical material for a steel bike? Somethning tells me that it is not.

there are 2 Supercorsa frames, and the "New" Supercorsa has a carbon fork and is made from Ultrafoco.

the older Supercorsa is marketed as a classic steel, so they've gone the whole hog and put a steel fork on it. Most bikes now have carbon forks, but there a few out there like the Cinelli.

You really don't need a carbon fork with a steel frame - I would much prefer a steel fork. My new steel Viner came with a carbon fork. Since the Cinelli is not aluminum, you don't need a carbon fork to dampen out the vibrations you get with aluminum frames. The carbon fork will make the bike lighter, but I would rather have an all steel bike with steel forks - and with steel you don't have to worry as much about the integrity of the forks or banging them around. I'd take the steel !!!!

unless you're a weigh weenie with 4% bodyfat the steel fork will be fine, a lot of people still prefer them on steel frames (and they look sweet on lugged steel)

good luck
