Casati ???
 

Does anyone know anyone who rides a Casati Laser Carbon ? (or any Casati) I would love to get some feedback especially of the Laser Carbon, I have dreamed of buying one for about 4 years and am ready to buy - I think. - I ride a Fondriest Status which is also a steel/carbon bike. But I don't know anyone who rides a Casati.

I do not ride a carbon Casati, but an aluminum one - the Challenge. Rides very well, but I'm sure in the sea of high-end aluminum bikes, they all ride well. I don't think there is a "unique feel" to a Casati ride.... I'm guessing neither with Merckx, Pinarello, Fondriest, etc. But what does stand out with the Casatis is the craftsmanship - super smoothed welds, hidden seatpost clamping bolt, fantastic paint work.

I didn't bid on a steel 75th Anniversary Casati Laser that was on Ebay a few months back. No one bidded on it, in fact. Wish I had :cry:

Of course mine is all steel, without the carbon rear triangle. I am not sure what the point would be to having C in the rear, but I do think it would somehow detract - albeit in a small way - from the classic approach of all steel.

My fork is C (pretty much all of theirs are now), but painted as you see. I suppose that could be true of a C rear triangle as well.

Is it my imagination, or does yours have a sloping top tube? I know they offer both styles.

No, it's not your imagination, it is a sloping top tube, all Dedacciai SC61.10A tubing.

Gmason...since you are in France, have you met the Italian frame maker Casati personally? If so...tell us a bit about him...looks like his work is pure art. Love the full steel frame with a carbon fork...especially out of the tubing your frame is made from...special.
Rippin's bike is awesome as well. I actually like a slight sloping top tube as much as old school horizontal tt. I personally wouldn't mind a rear carbon triangle with steel frame either depending on the construction ensuring no whip.

No I have not. But ... if he is still there, I plan to in 2008. I know that's some way off, but I was in the first graduating class at Vicenza American High School in 1958, and am working on getting there for the 50th.

In any case, the current people are the son and grandson of the original rider as I understand it. They have other staff, of course, but it is still essentially a family business.
