'06 Specialized Allez Sport vs. '05 Cannondale R500
Hello all! I would like to gather some opinions on which of these two bikes is should get. I rode both today, and I actually liked the feel and ride and look of the Allez Sport a bit more than the Cannondale R500, but they were very close. They Allez has a tighter geometry, which I like for my city riding. I'll be using the bike for some commuting, a lot of fitness riding, and maybe a spot of racing- I want to start racing a bit, see how I do.
'06 Specialized Allez Sport, dark grey/black, $850
Alunininum with carbon forks and seatpost
Shimano 105/Tiagra 27 speed groupo
Alex AT-400 wheelset w. Mondo Comp tires
Made in Taiwan
vs.
'05 Cannondale R500, dark blue, $850
Caad 5 frame
105/Tiagra groupo, same as the Allez Sport
Jipemme tri spoke wheels
MADE IN THE USA
The cannondale is a tad bit lighter, but the Specialized rides really nice. really responsive, but solid and smooth, didn't feel squirelly.

I'd go with the best ride, if they ride the same I'd go with the Cannondale.

Sounds like you liked the Specialized better. What does it matter what a bunch of people on the internet think?

yes, that's true. But frankly road bikes like these are all a bit new to me. I ride an early 80's Japanese Schwinn Traveller or Voyager, but new road bikes feel totally different.
