Heavy or not?

On a different cycling forum anything over 180 lb was considered to be a heavy rider. I understand if you're a pro that 185 lbs would be considered heavy but I'm curious what do most of us tip the scales at.

Urban Shooter 08-31-05 09:27 PM

Holy cow, what a group of fatties.

We're all on the comp instead of our bikes, are you surprised?

I resemble that remark...

Could be that they're a group of very fit serious riders or racers... indeed, 180 isn't small in that world.

Mehow 08-31-05 09:36 PM

So far I'm the only 170-180lbs. . . .at ~175lbs.

. . . which really means nothing at all

skinnyone 08-31-05 09:43 PM

You are discriminating against skinny people :D... I keed, I keed about the poll choices... I weighed in today at a whopping 135 pounds... I could use a few more pounds of quads..

ed073 08-31-05 09:44 PM

220lb plus.

Crikey.

CPcyclist 08-31-05 09:48 PM

Lemme go weigh myself (not that I just ate half a watermelon)...

Ugh... 196. :(

I guess not bad for the end of the day after dinner and the watermelon.

Duke of Kent 08-31-05 10:01 PM

No Exit 08-31-05 10:19 PM

women weigh a little less.... i dont think this poll accounts for that as a lot of women arent above 170

I think the majority of respondents have been the waifish metrosexual bikers.

Medpilot 08-31-05 10:44 PM

IMHO. Weight is not as important as body fat percentage. :)

I agree, if you just took my height, 5' 7" and my weight, 188lbs. it would appear I was a bit tubby, but when body fat percentage and lean muscle are factored in I become a bit normal.

Of course you are right. But most of these people, undoubtedly, don't know their percentages. So, the poll would probably have to ask: Are you a big fat slob, or well muscled and healthy?

JackK 08-31-05 10:50 PM

157 lbs (down 22 this year since March), 5:10

Urban Shooter 08-31-05 10:52 PM

If I could somehow weigh myself without my big old hog leg, I'd weigh aboot 4 lbs. lighter.

voltman 08-31-05 10:52 PM

5'7", 175, ~12%. I don't look like a cyclist.

gcasillo 08-31-05 10:52 PM

220 heavy? Please. Try on Aaron Gibson (390) or Ted Washington (365) of the NFL for size:

I right there with you, 5' 7" 188, 8%, and I will never look like a cyclist, even if I shaved my legs.
