Texas cyclists help run down fugative

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Here's a post that just showed up on our local club website forum. I normally do this ride, but my wife had made other plans for me for tonight.

Ok, not having another flat or the nice pace going out and the fast pace coming back or Butch showing up while I am changing my flat with a floor pump saving me a CO2 - here is what was unbelievable....after I changed my flat and start back to town Eric and Galen was coming so I rode in with them. As we approached the intersection of Hwy 69 and FM 346 we say our friend Constable Frank Creath coming through the intersection with his "police" lights on and pulled into the convinence store at the intersection. About that time a young man took off on foot and Frank took off after him. The guy ran behind the store with Frank in pursuit, then he came out from behind the store and ran in front of the BBQ joint. Frank was losing ground on this guy. Me and Eric jumped into action or I guess I should say pedaled into action - as the guy was leaving (dropping) Frank, me and Eric turn onto the oil top road just north of the fire works stand (it is the road the breakfast now turns on). Me and Eric cut the guy off from the north, so then the guy turn back towards hwy 69 and me and eric then circled the guy and cut him off from the east. The guy then turned around and took off, so once again me and eric (now doing sprint training) took off and cut the guy off from the west. Then it got real exciting, when he turned around this time Frank was to his right (south) and the K9 unit had showed up and they were straight in front of him (east) and me and eric had behind the guy covered. So, what did this dumb guy do???? He took off north and the german shepard took off and made a perfect tackle on this guy and then the fdog was all over him. I mean he was all over this guy!!! But right before the german sheppard tackled him the guy threw something down - I am not sure what it was? Frank told us that this guy was wanted and had a $10,000 reward - didn't I tell you this was unbelievable! Frank went on explaining to us, law enforcement could not collect rewards so he was going to put in for me and eric to split it!!!!! All I could think was what kind of bike am I going to buy and then Eric said "Dave was that a gun he threw down?" That is when I realized, dang right I am going to buy a bike for doing this. Unbelievable.

It all happen so fast, so Eric if I left anything out please help.

You just never know what can happen on a bike ride.
David

We got us some tough cyclists down here in the Lone Star State.

P.S.- After posting, I did notice the typo in the title. Seems you can edit the message, but not the title of a post. Please don't bother to post any replies telling me how to spell "fugitive".
