Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I know that the Scattante CFR frameset is a re-label, and most-likely provided to several companies for labeling. I'd love to pick one of these up, in ANY label or none at all, but have not found any provider for the frameset alone. It always comes as a full build.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these frames without buying a complete bike? Meantime, I'll keep watching eBay...

Try:

https://www.greenfishsports.com/index...ROD&ProdID=176
https://www.pedalforce.com/web/frames.htm

Similar frames but without the Scat labeling.

Pretty cool links.

Why not sell the extra parts? You might save some money that way. Too much of a pain in the butt?

Nah, too much capital outlay that might not escape the notice of the financial advisor (read: wife). I've just come out of an eBay sellathon, where I moved all my old 80's bikes and built two good bikes--a Vitus 979 (all classic Mavic) and a Serotta (all DA 10-speed). I'm worrying a bit about the size of the Serotta, now, as I moved to a smaller frame, 58cm, from the 60cm I always rode in the past. I took the advice of some number of self-styled sizing gurus, and have started thinking I might do better on a 59 or 60 for a longer top-tube. Anyway, I was just looking at the CFR and it appears a very nice frame without the extremely silly price. I'd love to drop all my DA and carbon on one.

Buying separates is almost never cheaper, unless you can find stuff used or on super closeout. The main advantage of buying parts is that you can choose exactly what parts you get (brands, models, sizes).

Man...just $600 for a nice looking carbon frame. I'm thinking impure thoughts. Good thing they don't have a 54 in stock.

That is a bargain price, especially considering that it includes a nice carbon fork, headset, and seatpost. Sizes are limited.

ya... i know hence the "pimp'n , kinda tempting myself if i wasn't on unemployement

i think the ZX3 from pedal force is the same frame Opus (canadian company) use's on their top of the line all carbon bike like the Staccato.
The QS2 looks more like your classic carbon frame, looks a little more like the scott i think.

Well, I went so far as to order the 303 from Greenfish, then thought better of it and called to cancel the order. They have ONE frame left, and it's a 59 (WHY did it have to be my size!?). I'm just not sold on the white frame, and would probably prefer the matte carbon from Pedal Force without the decals. I almost let impulse get the best of me.

Thanks again for the links!

I managed to dig up the specs on the EPX bikes, they're on the epx website, which wasn't actually that easy to find.

https://www.epxbikes.com/epx/products/triathlon.asp

I've also seen nothing by positive reviews on the Multi Sport "Nullarbor". Finaly the weight of the frame has be measured at 3.3lbs or 1496.85gr. Not bad for a frame that's supposedly amazingly stiff and aero. Slap a good set of lightweight aero wheels on there like the niobium 30, an you've got a pretty good ride. Although it looks like the bike was sold at one time with Zipp's.

Interesting that the geometry isn't very TT or Tri but more of a road Geometry. VERY slack seat tube angle for a TT bike. Probably makes for a good road bike with a similar philosophy as the Cervelo Soloist.

my thoughts exactly, only i end up saving about 3 grand on the frame I've never excelled at climbing althought i enjoy the challenge, so the aero benefits of the frame appeal to me as a fast flat's kinda rider.

From previous threads, someone mentioned that Scattante was manufactured by Martec. I did a brief search but didn't see any sold under that name.

I know www.chucksbikes.com sometimes carries Martec labelled framesets. Right now there is only the TT specific Superbike that was once banned from UCI events. But I've seen others on his site that are for sale when he finds them.

(It maybe would have been more productinve to search the bikeforums archives)
