Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Powerbar coupon at Costco

Costco just mailed me some coupons which included a 2-4-1 coupon for the Powerbar 24ct variety pack. I think the price for the pack is about $20, so that means for that price you'll get 48 which puts the price at about 42 cents each. That beats the heck out of over $2 each at the grocery store.

I've got the same one. How long do you think those last? I can't see eating 48 bars until well in to next year.

I think they should be good for at least a year.

The coupon says only one use per household.

At that price, you might buy some and use them as meal replacements if you can stand the taste.

Do you guys have a Grocery Outlet nearby?

They have the Harvest Powerbars for $.25 each. My friend (cyclist) just bought 4 boxes (15 count) for $3.75 a box.

They only had three flavors to choose from, but he was really impressed with the deal.

Freeze 'em?

I use a food saver and suck the air out and freeze 'em.

I bought some today without paying attention to the date on them. Mine have an expiration date of Jan 2006. Powerbar says they are edible past the expiration date, but you might not get all the nutritional benefit out of them.

I'm sure I'll use all mine by January, but YMMV. Freezing seems like a good idea if you need to store them longer. Be sure to check the dates when you buy them and get the latest you can. The date is right on the side of the box.
