Mission accomplished- 1st Century!

Completed my first Century today. Weather was unbelievable except for a few wind gusts between mile 55 and 70. I really felt lousy and weak at the stop just before that also. I probably could have eaten more at the rest stops. I just grabbed a banana, 1/2 bagel or a brownie and some liquid at the first 3 stops. I know I did not drink enough on the road either but the adreniline kicked in at mile 85 and I was cruising(for me anyway) the rest of the way in. Ride was actually 105 miles. Learned a few lessons but finished in 6.5 hours of riding time for an average just over 16 mph. Rode alone most of the way but when I did ride with people I can now see how the draft makes riding a whole lot easier. Some of the clubs when by me like freight trains! All in all a great experience and a nice feeling of personal satisfaction.
Thanks for all the help on the prep.

Congrats on a great ride. I'm looking to do my first one in November in Claxton, Georgia. I'd be very happy with your numbers.

Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations! I just did my first one in August. It's an amazing experience I think everyone should do at least once. I can't wait for my next one once I get the new racing bike. How'd you feel after the ride? How about the next day?

Immediately following the ride, I felt drained.(I rode the last 15 miles at at a pretty good clip) but I think a lot of fatigue is masked by the elation of the accomplishment. It is now 5 1/2 hours later and my legs defintely feel weak and a little sore but not as bad as I thought. A good meal and a hot shower afterward made me feel a whole lot better. I will let you know how I feel tomorrow.

One final update- Day after- Legs felt pretty good. Went to the gym this am and worked upper body. Light stretching for legs. They were a little more tired than usual on Monday. I had anticipated not wanting to see my bike for a while but I could definitely get on the bike after work and go for a light 10-15 mile ride, weather permitting.
