Finished my brother's bike build

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Finished my brother's bike build

I posted a few weeks ago that I was going to build my little brother a bike to start racing. He just turned 18, so for his birthday we got him a lot of stuff. The rest he reimbursed me for.

I bought the frame, FD, RD, and seatpost from ebay, the shifters, wheels, crank, BB and cassette came used from my team members for a deep discount. I got a few things like headset, tape and cables from Supergo. The rest of the stuff, bars, saddle, fork, I had and gave him for close to nothing.

It's a Fetish SAC frame with Airborne Aileron carbon fork. 105 derailleurs, Ultegra crank, BB and shifters. The wheels are Rolf Vector Comps.

Total for the bike as you see it is $598.70
He ended up paying 350.00 out of his own pocket.

It went really well for my first build, and I got to get my brother into something that I think he will enjoy.

Building a bike for someone else, or even just helping them maintain or repair it, is one of the most enjoyable aspects of this hobby for me.

That's an awfully nice looking bike. You are a good brother.

That looks great! Can you break it down, what did the wheels cost?
