Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Polar s725 - how to question

hi

just wondered if anyone knew how to get the polar s725 to turn on automatically when riding. with my old polar s720 i used to press the start button once and wait for the heart rate to come up, then it would turn on and record as i rode along and stop recording when i stopped at a traffic light for example.

i can't seem to get this to happen with the s725, is there are trick to it? i just want it to stop and start recording as i stop and start riding.

thanks for reading.

As far as I know, there is no option for this. It will continue to record until you hit stop.

I have the s625x. You have to turn it on to get it to record. I'm assuming the 725 works the same way. By the way, if anyone is interested, I'm working on an article describing my experiences with the s625x, including some tips and how-to's

I think joe is right. I have the 725 also. But the monitor records Exercise time and Ride time, so it does stop the cycle computer when the bike is not moving. When im done my ride i will divine the infomation by reviewing the file for the ride and then go to RECORDS and reset all the values except the Odometer. Otherwise the ride time will accumlute from ride to ride. Same with Kcals too. If you ask me, id say this is a programming glitch. You should be able to view Ride Time in real time.

I went from the 625 to the 725. Like mentioned above, unfortunately the 725 doesn't have the autopause feature. It has to be done manually. Not sure why they did this as the lower end models have the autopause.

The 725 does autopause. But some dolt at Polar Electro goofed the code and you cant view it in real time or in the file recal. You can only see the actual ride time if you recall the Records from the File menu. You have to reset it after every ride or it will accumulate like the odometer. IMHO this is a major software flaw.

What I've done to get total riding time is just divide my mileage by my average speed. Granted, this can be tough to do while riding (for some) but it's better than nothing. It would be nice if you could just view riding time while riding though.
