these bars look pretty cool, I mainly just like how it's slopped forward to allow for your arm when you're in the drops, sometimes my arm does hit when i'm sprinting, @9.90 they're either a really good deal, or so crappy they they'll flex if i sneeze...

opinions anyone ?? or does anyone know of any high end bars that have this type of bend pattern?

Handlebars are always such a crapshoot... everyone has different tastes.

For 10 bucks, it's worth a try.

no one else ever try modolo bars? i'm just worried they won't be stiff, but... sooo cheap :)

Modolo has an excellent reputation here in the Old World. I would suggest getting them. And as tinrobot said, you cannot beat 10 USD bars.

FWIW, there are also quite a few other anatomic bars, but they tend to be more expensive:

FRM Web-bar (about 180 Euro here).

Token Mono-Q (about 180 Euro).

Ritchey WCS OS (about 60 Euro).

3TTT More (about 170 Euro).

Stella Azzurra Gardas have that bend, all carbon. ~$200 bucks at Nashbar.

At 274g with bulge in the centre, these will likely be stiffer than any carbon bar.I just bought one in silver, it costs 150% more to ship than the damn bar.

i think i'll wait to see if i have a bike to put them on first ;) but i'm liking the design and price, even with shipping to canada, just a side question, isn't road 26.0 and 31.8??, i thought MTB was 25?? typo?? nashbar tech said they were "probably" 26.0 since they don't really look oversized, so..... they won't fit on my trek, even a new one. stupid double standard GRRR!

The original Easton EC-90 had a similar bend - I always liked the look but didn't want to spend the money for something so unusual. I was glad I held off because they discontinued the model and the feature went away on the newer model - the EC-90 Equipe.

Today, for $15 total, it's worth a try. So I ordered it.

They're available in 44 and in silver (I'm getting away from black bars for awhile) and $10. Can't go too wrong though I don't think they have the right bend for a sex toy if they don't work on the bike.

I use a different type of Modolo hadlebar and there of very good quality. Someone already said it that Modolo is a highly reputable company in Europe so I don't know why there so cheap.

My only concern would be hand positions on the tops. It doesn't look like they'd be too comfortable for long climbs. Your hands would be pointing out putting your wrists at an awkward angle. But, I've never tried them so I can say for sure.

I have the Ritchey WCS OS bars on my LOOK and love them. Comfortable in every position and because of the longer drops there is plenty of clearance, for my forearms at least. I got them on sale for $47 shipped.

Handlebar width, drop, reach and shape only need to matter to you.

Unless you're also indirectly inquiring about the brand and any structural problems the shape would cause from a safety standpoint.

I have the Modolo 8 bend bars.. They are currently on my Litespeed.. The bars are very strong, these are new old stock.. The bars I received had a 1993 date on them.. If you are a weight weenie, these may be a little heavy for you.. I bought them when they were 20.00 and they have a nice bend to them.. I like the 43 bars because 42's always seemed a little narrow for me and 44 were a little wide, so these worked just great..

I think they weighed a little over 300 grams if I remember..

Hands would be in similar position for climbing, I tend to grip to middle. They are in between track bars and road bars-I've heard this called the sprinter's bend.

Nashbar likely got them as overstock from a bike manufacturer. $10, but remember its just a bent bar. $300 carbon bars aren't really worth $300, I've seen the identical bars, all made by Token but re-badged as Stella Azzurra and other names sell from $180-$310 for exactly the same bar.

you must have made a bunch of people buy them as they are all gone now.

i had/have those for years. they were ok, but i don't have bar-bending, out-of-the-saddle power, so i can't really speak of flex . i switched to something with a shallower drop.

Yeah, I use Modolo on my OCLV. Unfortunately, I only got 98 miles on them before my chainstays cracked. Hoping to put some real mileage on them soon, now that the bike is back together.
