Aww.. no comment on the yellow jersey. I will say this though - don't wear your kit all day. That is un-cool IMO. Go and change like the big boys do when we bike commute in kit.

teenaged riders, keep up the good work. Y'all will kick our asses when you get into your 20s!
As for the people laughing at you, well.. we all know who will have the last laugh once you all reach your 20s.

lots of younger guys. always good to see.
17 here, right now i'm riding a mercier galaxy until i can get the fuji team sl out of layaway (minimum wage sucks). i've been riding since june and have 1200 miles so far. my friends all want to ride with me oddly enough. i do make fun of myself in lycra so i encourage laughing. it is going to help alot when i've had a winter full of base training miles in my basement and track is just starting up. unfortunatly i don't have as much time as i'd like to ride because of the shorter days. most days go from school to the gym to work. if i don't work i ride 20-50 miles before it gets dark. traded football for cycling and don't regret it at all

wow, i'm glad someone asked that question. I had no idea there were that many other juniors on this forum. Come to think, we should start a Junior Forum. I'm 13 and ride about 100+ miles a week on my specialized roubaix when there is good weather (CT) but lately school is killing me time wise. I've done some racing this season.... i guess im decently fast but not like insane. My best time has been 19.1 miles in 50:51. Im hoping to bring it down to 47:00 in a year or two. I'm not a member of a team because i'm holding out for my school's cycling team (really gonna happen for this spring.) It's gonna be pretty awesome. I dont think i am ever laughed at by anyone i know, they all think the speeds and distances I ride are impressive. But yes, I have been laughed at by kids my age i dont know. Yeah, hopefully I'll get into more racing next season because i've become a much more serious rider.

What's wrong with you guys? Haven't you discovered girls and cars yet?
Most folks when they turn 16, seem to forget about the bike. But they tend to come to their senses eventually, just takes some longer than others.

Recently got out of the teenage years (turned 20 last month) but I started riding when I was 16.
I'm typically riding 60-80 a day (4-5 a week) and have been for about 2 years now.
Of course I enjoy it, 3 years later and I'm still riding.
I never got laughed at per say, but I did get a few quips about my shaved legs, then they got defined and girls started commenting (positively) on them. Now I laugh at my friends who joked about them because they’ve gotten a nice head start on their beer bellies.

I still ride and I still fee like a teenager on my bike. My 11 year old daughter loves to ride with me. Trying to set her up with a lifelong passion.

Sixteen, I ride a Bianchi Veloce. I worked for it over the summer and used to get in around 100 miles weekly. More recently I've been sitting out due to various injuries, bike and soccer team related. That doesn't stop me from commuting five days a week though (on a Schwinn Super Sport). I'm not a racer or spectacularlyfast rider, but really into the whole deal and looking around for employment options at local bike shops. Woo.
A pic that I posted pretty recently in the 'summer pics' thread..

-YES, aawww hell yes I love it.
-Yes I am laughed at. But screw them! They're jealous. Heres my view. You know how everyone is like you wear spandex?!?! well think about it for a second. We are not the only kind that where spandex. Ever seen wrestling? they wear spandex, and they also rub against sweaty guys! Also have you seen crew? they wear spandex, so EAT THAT between two slices of whole wheat bread!
-My rides var in milage. During the weekends every sunday I ride with my club and get in 30-50 miles. During the weeks about 15-25 miles. But as I said that is going to be changing.
During my ride today I caught up to these two older ladies near the end of my ride and the convo went like
lady "isnt this just a great day!"
me "Yah"
lady "where did you ride"
me *ok yes I was kind of showing off * "Well I started at 6:45 and rode with my club"
lady "wow"
lady "how old are you"
me "fifteen"
lady "very cool! good job!"
lady "how far did you go?"
me "about 37 miles so far"
Lady "wow very nice!"
there was more but not much, It made me happy that I shocked them at how young and how far
went

how times change. i was an avid cyclist in high school (early 90's/still riding now) and nobody thought anything of it. on the flip side, i also was a skater and jocks just couldn't understand why skating was fun. hence constant ridicule for that. now skateboarding is considered cool and kids in the middle of North Dakota probably have skateparks.

I'm 13 and I don't know how much I ride (I try to ride about 40 every Sunday, and throw in stuff during the week). I don't get laughed at cause I hurt people that laugh at me .

I am 17.25
I would like to be able to ride 20 miles every day, but don't have time between work and school. So, I get trainer time instead.
I enjoy it, not so much on the trainer.
Laughed at? No, I find it mystifies people more than anything

i commute to school about 2 miles away every day, go to work on my bike after school, on weekends i mountain bike a whole lot, surf, skimboard, soccer, swim, run, work, train, gymnastics, and im only 16, i like to road bike on occasions, but being out in the forest and woods on a mountain bike just got me hooked, i do mostly cross country and i dirt jump with friends on my hard tail, i just passed 1100 miles today, ive had this bike since the beggining of summer and do about 50 miles a week, not including mountain biking, i dont have a computer on my mountain bike though
