Seriously.
I think back and say, "Wow, I hadn't even gotten my first (and still only) road bike then." and, "Jeeze, he's had that thing in paint before I became a BF member... I was just out of college, not married, and just starting my first real job!"
This whole thing gets crazier and crazier each passing year... but, considering that the painter in this case has another business of building bikes, and the wait list on that is something like 5 years (I don't know what it was back in July 04) perhaps it's not that bad after all.
Rad, you say you've built 10 bikes in the interim. If I'm not mistaken, one of those would've been for your son, correct? Any chance you'll be giving it to him as a present when that thing gets out of paint?

To the question of the builder and wait time .... It was 47 months last I heard, but 2 yrs ago it was 18 months, and a year prior to that shorter. So it should have been done long ago.
Rad, you should just go get your frame and leave (if you live in the area ... I forget now). The wait as everyone nows is far beyond reasonable or justifiable. Whoever is in charge of the work on this frame should be ashamed and just give it back no questions asked, so I say go grab it and then decide what you want to do.

I believe the builder you are referring to Vanilla Bicycles, who was having bikes painted at the same paint shop as the Tete.
Vanilla is not responsible for, and has no control over the fate of the Tete.

There's not a paint job in the world that's worth this. Time to pick up the Tete, build it up, and ride it.

aaaarrrghhh. i want to propose a new rule. you see, everytime there is a new post to this thread, i have to check it for pics. of course, up until now, it is just people lamenting the fact that no paint job has yet been rendered. therefore, i suggest that if the paint job does get done, a new thread is started by rad. that way, i don't have to keep looking in this one only to be disappointed everytime.
do we have an accord?

I'm never without something to ride. It makes situations like this much more tolerable.
