Assos or Buttr? Which is better?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Assos or Buttr? Which is better?

Help me with a purchasing decision. Answer the poll only if you have used both products and have an opinion either way.

Price is not a consideration. My butt is worth more than $10.

OK, since I haven't used either product I won't respond to the poll, but have you just tried some type of lotion? Both Neutragena Body Moisturizer and Keri Lotion work well enough for me that I haven't felt the need to try anything else.

And how often have I heard that before? Too many, too many.

Personally I use the chamois butter. I like the packaging and application better. A word of caution however..... I was getting ready to apply some butter in a crowded park before riding. I had worn my cycling clothes but I don't like to drive with fresh butter. What I did was to use the napkins in my glove box and apply the butter on them. I then did a "reverse tail wipe" to apply the stuff.

You can imagine my surprise when I looked to my right and daw a horrified woman who had appeared out of nowhere peering into my window as I apparently fondled myself under my shorts . There was no need to try and explain that one!!! Thank God I left before the cops got there!!!!

I talked to alot of people about this last week (CNC 2005 over 400 miles through NC).

Everyone had their own opinion, it comes down to trying which works best for you.

Personally, I used Udderly Smooth Udder Cream (from walmart, about 98 cents). I applied it liberally to my skin and chamy. Even on the days that it rained all day and I rode 82 and 65 miles in the rain, it held up.

I agree with the Body Glide. I have used it and it is very easy and works great. My wife uses the Udder Cream that you can get in most any drug store or WalMart.

We rode 7 hours in the rain on Saturday and neither of us had a rash problem.

Butt'r.
I don't like Body Glide - not thick enough, doesn't last long enough in my experience. Assos smells funny to me. It's more expensive too, isn't it?

I have used both. I currently use nothing.

However, back before I got a saddle that was comfortable, I needed to have some sort of lotion. I preferred the Chamois Butt'r only because the Assos stuff has some sort of "burn" with it. Numbing agent perhaps?

Whatever it was, I didn't needed it. I just needed something to keep from chaffing.

First, try saddle position changes if you're having trouble with saddle sores. That said, I still use cream. Tried both of those, currently use Walgreen's generic Vitamin E cream. Works as well as either of those, assuming that you wash your shorts between rides.
