Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My compliments to the Cheesehead ride participants

Well, well, well.
You've come a long way from that first ride (at least in terms of OCP-ness)!

If you have not seen what CPcyclist did with a few pics, check it out in that thread:

Nice job putting the avatar/page with the person's photo. Loved it and wish there were more. Is there a ride report somewhere?

And the gear looked great.
The HipCycler OCP fashion consultant award for best dressed on the ride goes to:

The dude who showed up in T-Mobile kit....oooohhh.....big bonus points for posing with the arm warmers rolled down too! Nice touch.

Hip

The ride report... short version... the hills west of Madison are fantastic for riding. Weather was in the 60s and sunny with a bit of wind. I did more climbing yesterday than all year long... I gotta get out of Illinois more often (I guess I was an honorary Cheesehead for the day). The psuedo knave was pressing up a big climb when we tracked him down. Check with CPcyclist to see if the gentleman had any thoughts on why he was posing for photos on his ride. I said hi to him when I passed, but in between all the huffing and puffing, I can't even remember if he responded. For me, I set a new personal best coming down the first hill after that incline. 45.6 mph. Then after a grueling little climb up Barlow, I bested that speed with the 47.2 posted on the other thread. As I was near the bottom, CPcyclist absolutely FLEW past me. What a rush. I can't wait to go faster.

And looking at the pictures... dang I really need to straighten out my helmet!

By the way, CPclydesdale makes a fantastic bratwurst. Salud to that!

Hip, you gotta show up next time. Fantastic scenery, good comraderie, and all that.

thank you, thank you. This is such a surprise I didnt expect to win at all
First I would like to thank the designers of the T-Mobile Teamkit for allowing my to wear pink while cycling
Secondly I would like to thank god for making it too warm yesterday enabling me to wear the rolled down armwarmers
Lastly I would need to thank myself and my own stupidity for wearing the armwarmers in the first place when it was clearly too warm outside
Again thank you

We were much more OCP this time. I did not get to take as many pictures either as we were going a bit faster/had a head wind.

Hip we should try to get something put together in your back yard. Growing up in Dousman I did a little riding in the area it is as nice there as here.

Did the Midnight Madness ride downtown a few years (don't really remember when the ride is though). This could make an interesting ride for next year.

I could see a late Nov. ride depending on weather you know could have 3ft of snow or could be 75 F and sunny.

What do you say you up for setting down a route for us? If not for Nov. then after the snow starts to melt? I sure we can get better weather either way the the Whitewater race this spring.

I'm bummed I couldn't make it. 'course, that would have brought the OCP factor _way_ down!
