Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Weight of Ksyrium Elite vs Alex 295

Just got a front wheel Ksyrium Elite off ebay ... wanted to compare the weight... I have a 5lb mailer scale so it's not perfectly accurate, but it is consistent... so...

Mavic Ksyrium Elite (Front): 1.78125 lbs = 807.96 grams
Alex 295 (Front): 1.90625 lbs = 864.66 grams

So that's a weight savings of 56.7 grams.

I realize that weight savings isn't the only benefit of a Ksyrium Elite over Alex 295... that rigidity and aero should be considered. Both rims have "aero" spokes... but the Ksyrium Elites spokes are stiffer and flatter.

Does any of this surprise you?
