Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Scattante R-550

I'm planning to put an order on Supergo for the Scattante R-550 in a few days. I've heard lots of great things about it, and it's fully 105! It seems to be the bang for your buck and I've been researching for quite a while for a ~$700 bike. I was just wondering, is it hard to assemble? I've never built a bike before.

(I doubt I can, so how much do you think an LBS would charge for assembling it?)

Sorry for the newb post...

My 650 came mostly assembled. I'm guessing you won't be assembling it fully, just handle bars, seat post, etc. It shouldn't be that bad.

Headset, bottom bracket, stem, shifters, crank, brakes, and derailleurs. You'll have to do adjustments mostly.

You will need to put the handlebars on the stem, seat on the seatpost, seatpost in bike, pedals on, front brake and front wheel on the fork. Its easy but if your new I would have it done or checked before riding.

If you haven't ordered yet I would call and ask the phone price. I did this to ask about shipping and got mine for $679 plus shipping. The shipping is also an issue I was told the two day would turn into approx. 1 week and standard shipping would be 2 weeks. I went with the 2 day and got it in 2 days, so if you need to keep costs down the wait for standard shipping may not be to bad.
