I had to return my cateye Astrale 8

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I had to return my cateye astrale... the little 2letter indicator for which mode you were in was just TOO small! I was squinting and getting closer to the computer everytime i wanted to check my stats.

Returned it for a Sigma BC1200 which was a HUGE improvement. Now instead of a little displaying saying Mx it actually says "MAXSPEED"

something to consider for those of you looking for a new computer

yea, same here... although I run 1600x1200 on my 20" lcd at home... my mom has a 19" monitor and she runs 640x480... so I bet she'd have the same problem as you!

I won't go so far as to say the Cateye computers have really large indicators. But I don't even look too see whether my Enduro 8 says "Av" or "Tm" or "Dst". It's pretty obvious to me that 0:45:37 is the time. And the 16.7 that keeps dropping by 0.1 every couple minutes—even when I'm going 19 mph—is the average speed.

If you can't tell which mode you're in by what the number is doing...well, I'm not sure what to say.
