Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Seat binder bolt

I have a seat binder with a 4mm hex nut to tighten it down. I do not have a carbon seat post, but an aluminum one. I usually tighten the bolt until it is snug with my little allen wrench. Is this right? I tighten with one hand until it does not turn. Is this too much? OR not enough?

Too much would break the bolt. Too little will have the seat post slipping into the seat tube. If neither is the case then you are good to go.

Thanks. Basically, when I tighten it, it is tight but not like a gorilla tight. I make sure to only use my right hand when tightening it up. I tighten until it is firmly seated and no longer turns, but do not turn once it stops. Basically I turn even when resistance becomes greater, but stop turning when it stops.
