Let's Say You Have $1500

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Let's Say You Have $1500

Because I have that much to spend on a new bike, and there's currently a $3000 thread, and the ever-present $700 thread, I figured I'd start this one. Sure, it's been talked to death before, but this is fun to talk about. Given the deals to be had on '05 models, we should be able to get great stuff for the 1500.
As for me, I'm looking for a racey bike to train on and maybe a little tri. I can go up to $1500. What you got?

The bike I have. A Windsor Kennett. Costs $1100 delivered. Comes with a 6061 Aluminim frame with carbon fork and chain stays. Full Ultegra 10 speed drivetrain. Ritchey seat post, stem and handlebars. Shamino R550 wheels. VP Pedals (nice). I replaced the wheels with Velocity Nubium wheels w/titanium spokes, 1515 grams $375. The bike is beautifully painted and rides very well. So for under $1500 you have a nice ride with a spare set of decent wheels. You can forgo the extra wheels and with the $400 get shoes, shorts, helmet, etc.

I had the same budget. I got a Giant carbon TCR Comp 2. Actual price was $1,599 - Ultrega gruppo. Love it - just had to spend $99 more than I was planning on.

Kind of a roll of the dice, but for the money, this looks pretty high-zoot.

Looks like a good deal. I rolled the dice on mine and I am happy. This one looks like a better deal.
