knee noise?
Hey guys, its late and I had a quick question :D
My knee kind of hurt since Saturday(left one only due to stupid overextension). It went away on Monday, and today it makes wierd noise! When I squat, and I come up, I can hear kind of crunchy type noise from the left knee. It doesn't hurt anymore, but is this bad?? I haven't ridden in a couple of days either. Any ideas? Thanks!! |
this kinda sounds like my issue...
Im going to raise the saddle a bit higher for the next few rides. If anyone has any input, I'd like to hear it Thanks! http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...t=crunchy+knee |
same here..i did a century last sunday and after got back home, my kneecap hurts like hell. It seems the pain comes beneath the kneecap more. But obviously, i heard some "squeaky" sound when i squat down and stand up again. Till today, the pain is hell, especially when im inside air-conditioned room or when i drink cold/iced drinks. I should go to doctor to check it out soon. Im off the bike for this whole week for sure. Damn sad about this. No cycling = No life... :(

I commute alot more now with my old Centurion. With all of the miles I now ride, my knees creak a little too. I had some Patella pain for a while, but it has slowly subsided over the last few weeks.

so..REST is the only thing i can do..

I'm no doctor nor do I play one on tv but I have had three knee surguries. It sounds like a cartilage issue. Get it checked out. It could be degenative.

I would have your doctor look at it, just to be safe. You don't want to make it worse. A small tear or strain could become a big one over time if ignored. :(
Play it safe. Now is the time with the season winding down. Dante |
Broke my left patella in May. Now it always crunches a bit. The muscles, tendons and ligaments tend to get tight around it too frequently. I now have my own personal barometer as it changes with the weather. My therapist said that the crunching is most likely caused by an uneven surface on the backside of the patella. Perhaps you're starting to get some wear in there. Get it checked out and rexamine your bike fit and pedaling style.

Thanks guys!!
We only have one season in SoCal :D |
My left knee has done it for years, and when I swim I can feel my lower leg move laterally a bit. I assume it's because my knee has been driven into pavement at least a few times before. It doesn't hurt, but it does make the crunching noise you described.

Hey, I run a lot, and bike a fair amount too (duathlons/ centuries/ general riding). I get the squeeky knee, and the knee pop sometimes too. I take glucossimine every day (for several years now). It takes about a month to get into your system, but it works well. Re-builds cartilidge. I hate taking vitimis (though I do take a multi), but I swear by this stuff. If you haven't see it before, you can get it at GNC or even Wal-Mart. If the knee thing is a carilidge issue, this might help. Also, try stretching before and after your rides, a lot of us forget to do that...
