Chris Horner's pre-race meal.

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

anyone see the movie PRO? there is one scene in there which i think is really funny. right before a race, all his teamates are getting ready and pacing around nerviously. He, however, is sitting on a curb eating a hamburger, fries, and drinking a coke.

i can't remember if the race was lancaster, trenton, or phily. but it was a major race, nonetheless. i don't think i could eat like that before a huge physical effort. a burger, fries, and coke usually put me on the couch for an hour afterward.

Pro is a good intro to the US road championships. "The hard road" is good too, shows that pro racing is not so glamorous. You can get them on Ebay's Adrenaline Films. Or Velogear and get screwed for shipping.
These documentaries are an excellent way to see how many BF subjects are just not important and total BS in the real world.

Horner loves a good burger and fries. Actually at the TdF this year, on the rest day in Pau, he was seen walking into a McDonalds to order his favourite meal.

The fact that he is eating fast food before a race is not suprising because of how many calories it is....

He ate that well before the race if you listen to the commentary. His team mates were off to the coffee shop even though they decided to do it in full garb.
