Performance/Gore-tex Thermal Glove

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Performance/Gore-tex Thermal Glove

https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=1141

Does anyone have these gloves? I'm looking for something that's good down to single digit temps. Last year I always just rode in some normal old fleece gloves, but as you can imagine my hands got cold a lot of the time.

The gloves I'm wearing now are more fall weather gloves, and I think I was approaching their temperature limit today. Does anyone ride in non-cycling gloves? I was thinking about just going to Wal-Mart and buying some regular winter gloves to try out. Grip seems to be the only issue, but I didn't have any grip on my old gloves and I got used to it.

I have never had any luck with gloves in those temps. Mittens are a much better deal.

I don't own those but I did buy the Performance Neoprene gloves for 19.99. I've worn them in temps around 40 and my hands were sweating like crazy.

One word of caution, they run small. I wear Large gloves in most brands. These in size large are just a bit small.

There is a WORLD of difference between 40 F and single digits.

I am not sure if they are the same ones but I have a pair of Goretex insulated gloves I got from Performance (they look similar but a little different, maybe just an older model?) and they work very well down into the single digits. To be honest they are very much like ski gloves but I am fully about to work the shifters with no issues so they work fine. My one grip with them is that they should have a longer cuff area to go over the sleeves of your jacket.

The only feature that mine have that would make them "cycling" gloves is that there is a padded area in the palm. Other than that yes they are just winter gloves.

for really cold weather I have heard good things about "lobster" style skiing gloves. there's 3 separate finger areas, one for the thumb, another for your index and middle finger, and another for the last two fingers.

it's designed something like a compromise between mittens and gloves. with the index finger 'lobster' claw you can still hit shimano shifter paddles without too much trouble.

get an el cheapo pair of winter gloves from lands end or someplace like that, they work fine down to -5, probably colder.......never gotten any colder than -5F here that ive ridden in, mine were ike $20, been thru two seasons of riding for a living in all kinds of winter weather

winter gloves for cold weather have so much insulation padding is a non-issue

I was at Performance tonight cashing in some Team Performance dollars and picked up these gloves for $19.99. https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...egory_ID=1141#

They do run a little small, I regularly wear L and needed to buy XL.

I prefer frozen hands while riding. It helps with vibrations.

I even freeze my hands in ice before rides during the summer.
