Wireless computer

...About to buy a new one. LBS tells me that most brands have had batches of bad wireless computers from time to time but none of late. I'm looking mainly at Cateye. Anybody want to make recommendations on this?

Cateye Cordless 7 has apparently been discontinued, but I bought one on sale this past summer and they may still be around cheap. They work extremely well, once you get them properly calibrated and learn how to use their functions.

This is harder than it should be, because the instructions are simply awful.

Have been using Cateye Cordless 2 for a couple years no problems

Love my Cateye cd300w wireless with cadence. Will be getting a cheaper wireless Cateye for my wife's bike.

Sigma Sport 1600 here on my folding bike. It works great except sometimes on the bumpy roads here the transmitter gets jostled out of place (a swift kick with an unclipped shoes usually fixes that without dismounting).

I've been using a Cateye Micro Wireless. It works perfectly. The sensor never seems to lose contact with the receiver.

I have both, Cateye Astrale 8 and the wireless.

The Cateye 8 has cadence and reads off the rear wheel which is useful on a trainer.
No problems with this computer. Instructions are messy! You will figure it out but it is not for ADD challenged people.

The wireless has caused me problems when set in automatic mode for average speed. Do not know if it is caused by RF interference or just a faulty device. My LBS exchanged it twice and it still acts up. I gave up on it and use it just for speed, distance, time in manual mode. I would not buy another one.

If you are interested in the Cateye Cordless 7, my local REI has it on sale for $35. Not on-line though, but I'll bet if you called up REI CS and told them that the Oakbrook, IL REI has it for that price, they'd honor it.

CD300DW - get it new on Ebay for around 80$ -- Speed from the rear wheel and cadence - perfect for winter rides on the trainer. Great backlight too.

Same here. I like Cateye products. Lights, trainer and computers.

I have the wired Cateye Mity 8 for my road bike. And the micro wireless for my track bike.
