Here ya go. If one of you buys this, you are the OCP God for eternity!

Seriously, I would see if State farm or Geiko could insure this.

Would a sane person even dare ride it?

One for me, one for my wife and two more (with training wheels) for my 4 year old twins :)

Namenda 11-22-05 11:58 AM

Rolling vomit. It just needs a personalized top tube. Something along the lines of Property of R. McDonald.

bbattle 11-22-05 12:04 PM

Is that an ALUMINUM bottle cage on that $25k bike? Puhleeze.

Inverted 11-22-05 12:05 PM

That thing doesn't look comfortable. Not a big fan of the downtube shifters, either.

SteveAZ 11-22-05 12:10 PM

I showed my wife that auction...."that's disgusting" hahahahahaha

I want this one, nobody bid on it...k? ;)

Umm so what exactly is worth 25k on that bke, and what is up with those downtube shifters!!!

It's futuristic retro I guess?

steppinthefunk 11-22-05 12:20 PM

Downtube shifters, quill stem, aluminum bottle cages, polished hardware ... I'd say their trying to go for the contemporary/retro feel ala 2005 Mustang - Problem is, overall bike design (aside from materials) hasn't really changed much over the past couple decades... My girfriend wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a bike made in the 80's and a bike made in '05...

SteveAZ 11-22-05 12:27 PM

It's not new, it's a '96

I think I'd rather have Elton John's "Red Devil" ride:

How the hell did Elton John fit into that fit into a Ferarri? He's a BLIMP!

I dunno... Late Testarosa's remind me too much of Miami Vice... Don't get me wrong though - I'd take that thing in a heartbeat!

Enzo. 'Nuff Said.

Not aluminum or polished hardware but 24c goldplate.

Dinstee 11-22-05 01:50 PM

that bike is absolutely gorgeous. But for 25k I'd have 4 or 5 customs made exquisitly.

I'm sorry, but Colnagos are the dumbest bikes on the planet. They WISH they were like Ferraris. The only people suffering from that misconception (besides some of the people that own these bikes) is Colnago.

My friend's Colnago BiTitan (a titanium Colnago c. 1994 or so) was the biggest piece of crap ever foisted on a big bucks bike consumer. It broke in 90 days. Looked dopey, lasted less than 6 months.

But lots of people LIKE these bikes. Hey, don't listen to me. I ride a friggin Cannondale. I'm sure all the Colnago owners hate Cdales as much as I hate Colnagos. Whatever floats your boat I suppose. To me Colnagos will always be the poster boy for foo-foo bikes.

Did you reach your conclusion with a sample size of 1 or do you have other experiences that you'd care to share to back up your remarks?

was_bmxer 11-22-05 04:08 PM

You need to have riden a c40, when they were still new. If you have and didn't like it, I can't understand how. It was a incredible frame, could do it all.

I remember there was a older woman, when I was in my teens (1986-1987) that would always ride along the coast past our place on a black Colnago w/all gold plated parts.

I dunno... looks like all the hardware on the thing could possibly be some sort of gold plating? Even the chain looks as if its been treated in some way. If it's really gold, that would do a lot to explain the hefty price tag... although it would seem to make it more of a display piece as opposed to something you would actually ride on the road. Although, if you're that rich, it might be a way to say, 'yea this cost $25k, and no I don't care if I mess it up. I'm rich biatch!' (honks horn twice).

My big concern is the way that the inner tube valve seems to be hindered by the wheel. Seems like it would be difficult to attach a pump to that. Is that how all carbon wheels are set up?

patentcad 11-22-05 04:44 PM

I don't have to 'back up' my remarks. My hatred for Colnagos is purely visceral and illogical. I think they're ********. Just like some people hate Cannondales.

They remain, and will always be, foo foo bikes. That's like a foo foo restaurant where they serve the salt and pepper in little plates with miniature spoons instead of in shakers.

Ahh, I see. Colnagos are "********" and "the dumbest bike on the planet" just cuz you say so. Thanks, professor!

It takes ten posts before anyone knows what the hell is going on! It's a new record!

Savas 11-22-05 05:28 PM

Can't help thinking that whoever can afford it won't ride it much.
