Wearing plain spandex shorts on wet ground?

Anyone wear plain tight shorts on a ride on wet ground after a rain? Just wondering who would like that squishy feeling when the chamois gets soaked, or maybe it's just my cheap $30 bellweathers. And while on the topic, are there any similar tight fitting, water-proof shorts? I'm all for skin hugging clothes but can't stand my arse getting soaked from running over little ponds (no, I don't wanna stick a fender on).

A shop that sells "adult novelties" or "marital aids" might have the rubberized spandex you are looking for.

SKS raceblades are fenders you can take on and off with quick releases. Planet Bike also sells a cheaper product called "Freddy Fenders." But then you will always have to hum "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights" as you ride.

You can get the Freddy's at Freewheeler and the Raceblades at B&L in Davis. $35 and $59 respectively.

BTW, the problem you are describing is called the "Freshman Stripe" at UCD.

On a return leg of a MS150, I ended up riding in the rain for 60 miles or so. As you may suspect, I was soaked. However, I never felt any discomfort from my cycling shorts. In fact they pretty much didn't feel any different soaked as they fele when dry. Go figure.

But I'm a sophomore :(

I do have a rear fender on my beater for school commute but hate screwing that off and on. Or I could go slow enough that smut from the back tire won't even reach my saddle much like a lot of commuters I see...

I don't have a problem riding with a soggy chamois but once I get home and sit down forgetting my butt is a sponge I tend to leave a wet spot

It's safe to say, no.

That's a non-issue for me because my butt sweat soaks them anyway...rain or sweat.
