the IRD Cadence rims are
wicked light....and too flexy, but now they have a 30mm deep dish that weighs about what a 'regular' rim would-- does the deep section mean that it's going to be any stiffer?? Also, what about Velocity aero- head rims? are they stiff and straight? i know that particular model is pretty much a regualr rim and that's fine--as far as i know, brings me to the next question.. How advantagous(sp) is a deep profile anyway?? anyone really notice an aero advantage using said rim? Many thanks, and please, no product hors.., i'd like real answers. |
I've built up a set of Velocity Deep-V's and they are excellent wheels. They are round both laterally and radially. So I would expect Aeroheads to be the same. Also from what I have heard, Velocity makes excellent rims.
If you want a really stiff rim, check out the Deep-V's. But you have to consider the extra weight the deeper section adds. My set are built 32 spoke 3x on high flange Phil Wood track hubs and there is no way I can flex those rims in a sprint. |
