New wheels
Hi.
I'm looking for a new set of wheels for racing. I would like to go with Ritchey wheels, for misc reasons. I looked at their site and I'm overhelmed with choices. I don't really want to go with carbon wheels, too expensive and I think at **** point benefits don't outweight the price (at least for me). Also I'm not really sure if I should go with clinchers or tubular. I hear tubulars provide better feel for the road, etc, but I'm not sure if I want the hastle of changing the tires when they wore out/punctured. Any recommendations?

I recently searched all over this site and the web in general for positive comments about Ritchey wheels before a recent purchase. Couldn't find many, but found several complaints.

And we also need to know if your leaning towards tubular or clincher not just an "either or" thing.

What's your budget? Which Ritcheys were you thinking of?

I don't know what you're gonna pay for them. I do know however that they're famous for their rather poor built quality.
An Odds and Endos set of wheel's probably pretty close to you're budget and holds a much better quality.
I understand that's one of the better wheelbuilders over there.
If you still want the Ritchey's. Visit RoadBikeReview.com, read about them and get cured.
Really sorry to bring this to you. Nothing would be better than a good low priced low weighted set of wheels.
Unfourtunatly that's not a set of Ritchey's. I see them a lot at my LBS. In a corner at the workshop that is.

I've got a set of the Ritchey WCS wheels and I like 'em...BUT...only after the rear was rebuilt with a new (Ritchey supplied under warranty) hub and both were retensioned and trued by the ace mechanic at my LBS.

The difference between a standard roadman wheel like a Ksyrium and a Zipp 404 is massive, and well worth the upgrade.
Otherwise you might as well forget the upgrade and do some money saving.
