Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Who buys a used helmet? They have a limited life as it is, and you can't tell if there has been some hidden damage that makes it no longer safe. Meh, maybe i'm just a jerk about stuff like that

buying a used helmet seems like a very bad idea. Helmets need to be replaced after they've suffered any significant impact. The integrity of the foam, and it's ability to absorb a blow can be compromised in a manner that it is not apparent on the outside.
Why would you gamble with your brain to save a few dollars?

I might be missing something but eBay is full of bike helmets both new and used. Some times people buy a helmet from a on-line store and the helmet does not fit or they buy a new bike and want a new helmet to match the new bike.
