Castelli Bib Sizing for the tall guy??

Anyone have first hand knowledge of Castelli bib sizing?

I have a 34" to 35" and I'm 6'4". According to this Castelli bib size chart I would take a Large (4) to fit my waist but it doesn't give any height. I don't want them to be too tight vertically giving me a constant wedgie. If I go XL then I'm into the 37" to 39" waist and I might be swimming in them in the midsection but comfortable height-wise. Any tall guys out there wearing Castelli bibs?

Bibs 2 3 4 5 6
US Size: Small Medium Large X-Large XX-Large
Waist: 26-28 29-31 32-36 37-39 40-42
Hips: 35-37 38-41 42-44 45-47 48-50

I find that at 6'1", 177 lbs, with a 34"+ "bike" inseam I need an XL in most of their bibs, not because of the bibs, but because of the narrowness of the legs. I like the chamois of the y3 bibs, but the upper section could fit better, imho -- yes the "bib" is just a bit loose on me, but I can hardly get the leg sections over my thighs, and I guarantee you that there is no way that anyone with a 39" waist is getting those things on. BTW, their sizing chart deosn't seem to mean anything. I would guess, based on what you said, that XL or even XXL would be the way to go for you -- at least for the y3 bibs. Having said that, I would highly recommend trying them on if you can, because I've found Castelli's sizing standards to vary quite a bit between models and, even in different samples of the same models. (And this variation seems to have little to do with whether the item is made in the US or Italy, in my experience.) Hope this helps!

I have a pair of Castelli Bib Knickers. I am 6'1" waist 34 (yeah but I'm 53) 165 lbs. I got them in size large. These are the ones with the Kiss pad. I find that they fit but are "droopy in the crotch." Not sure why that would be. So I wear a regular set of bib shorts (with a very thin pad) underneath and that works great. I had a pair of Castelli Bib tights (these were XL) but I returned them after both ankle zippers broke after a few rides. The Large size bib tights would not fit over my calves (and mine are not huge).
