Campy compact with front standard derailleur

How well would standard campy record derailleur work with compact crank?

I have a standard campy fd with a campy compact crank and it seems to work the same as the standard crank I took off.

Thanks.

I have a standard der with a compact on my wifes bike, and it works, but does tend to drop the chain on the inside more often than it really should. I've tweeked the best anyone can, and I've come to realize it should be changed. I'll get around to it next month sometime.

My new bike had a std 2005 Chorus FD with the 50/34 compact and I could not get rid of some kind of chain interference (which I never did figure out). I tried everything over many weeks. Then I changed to the Chorus compact FD and all was well immediately. YMMV.

I used a standard with my Campy compact and it worked ok. Some missed shifts some times a dropped chain, but nothing out of the ordinary. I finally spent the money and got a compact specific front derailure and it DOES work better. Shifts from small ring to large ring take place with, for lack of a better word, authority. It catches and engages cleanly, same for down shifts from large to small ring. For what it's worth.
