Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Christmas Pledge

As everyone probably knows, the moderators work for free. This weekend, some of us kept the moderators pretty busy, present company included. While I am not admitting any wrongdoing, as a Christmas present to the mods, I am promising to be nice for the rest of the year. I ask that everyone on both sides of the pond join me in this pledge.

Wow, this dropped to the second page quick. guess promising to be good isn't nearly as fun as feeding the trouble makers till the mods have to step in.

Seriously folks, we need to all take a deep breath and realize how the bickering is effecting the forum, all of its members and those who work so hard to keep it running smoothly. If a certain member bothers you to the point of not being able to promise to be kind till they do, add them to your ignore list. Problem solved, and you've taken the high road instead of being dragged down further in the eyes of other members. Don't care what other people think of you on the forum? Then try to at least have some personal morals and ask your self what your dear mother would think of you if she knew what you were saying about other people.

On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Bike Forums Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

I did that, Cuda. The problem isn't solved, however, because of the residual offender spews (ie. quotes) that are viewable in threads in which many of us are actively participating. Could/should we take the high road? Definitely. I'll do my best.

He whose name must not be uttered just disappeared off my computer. I can probably make to the end of the year with the help of the ignor list. Good tip Cuda.

Yeah, it's not perfect. But I'd say it's probably 70% or so. If its something that I can do to help the Mods out and keep things civil around here I'm all for it. Merry Christmas to all, even those on my ignore list. And if you don't celebrate Christmas - then I hope you enjoy the winter months as much as possible while the weather is chilly and waiting for the good weather to return.

chipcom - didn't you already start your pledge? or is that 'I'll start tomorrow' still mean 'tomorrow.' Steely-eyed Santa Cyclists should just put a 'naughty' next to certain names and leave it at that.
