I saw that Cervelo made a Super Prodigy steel frame that was like 2.5 lbs(!) but they discontinued it.
Any decent quality lightweight steel frames out there? |

That has to be some sort of copyright violation... |
I know I saw, on CyclingNews.com, a couple months ago about a 1000gram steel frame made out of reynolds tubing. Light enough? :D

I would love to have one, but I would probably make it a single speed. :) |

Waterford sells stainless bikes that I believe are VERY light.

I was just screwin' with the name a bit, because I like things that sound French. Like my name(s). |

my 1989 Paramount OS is under 4lbs, there are tons of steel frames below 4lbs

Here's couple of steel roadies that'd fit your bill:

Salsa is about to release one made of S3 steel called Primero. 3.1 lbs
http://www.salsacycles.com/06_frames_preview.html |
Scarfacci, Colnago, Orbea, Waterford, Heron, Kogswell, Sano, Torelli, Mondonico, De Rosa, etc. Big list. (See one of Sincity's threads on steel or red or orange bikes)
Look for True Temper S3 or OX, Reynolds 853, Columbus Spirit for frames under 3lb. |
My LeMond Zurich 853 is pretty light for steel. I have never weighed just the frame though, but I also have a steel Merckx that weighs way more.
|
Lemond Sarthe. 3.3lbs in 57cm. According to Lemond Customer Service. True Temper OX.......

I think I'm going to need some assistance 56/12 and 22/28 because I can't find it...:(

before I bought mine I emailed Cervelo and someone told me a 58cm frame was "about 3lbs" mine is 1670g (3.67lbs) |
It's not too hard to get under 4lbs, which is ~1816g.
Two of my old (late '80s), lugged 531c frames are 1860g (58cm and 56cm) |

From the site: Frame weight: 3.1 lbs 49cm Fork weight: .88 lbs (uncut) Color: Paprika Red Frame: True Temper S3 Tubeset Fork: Alpha Q CS20 Full Carbon Fork w/ Carbon Steerer Headset: Standard 1-1/8" Bottom Bracket: 68mm; English Thread Front Derailleur: 28.6mm; Clamp Style, Bottom Pull Seatpost: 27.2mm Seat Collar: 28.6mm Salsa Lip-Lock Included Rear Wheel: 130mm Spacing Sizes: 43, 45, 47, 49, 51, 53cm (49cm = Standard 56cm) Color: Paprika Red Tire Clearance: Fits up to a 700c x 25mm Includes: Salsa Lip-Lock Seat Collar Sizing Note: The Primero measures about 7cm smaller than the Campeon. If you ride a 56cm Campeon, you most likely ride a 49cm Primero. |
My Ultrafoco Carbon is under 4 pounds. The Spirit Carbon replaces it in Orbea's lineup nowadays. Not the stiffest, not a noodle. Rides really well.
I'm really interested in the TT S3 stuff. I was hoping that someone here would get one and pummel it for a year. A detailed review is required, of course. |

Wait ... if I just eat fewer cookies and less pie over Christmas, I can get rid of that extra pound ;) |
