Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I ride as cross training for fencing and put in on average 130 miles per week between the road (~100 miles) and commuting (~30 miles). I used to play basketball, but I gave that up at age 50 because I was tired of being sore all the time. Still like to watch college basketball both in person and on TV.

Family and job take up most of the rest of my time and interest. Not much time left for anything else.

Very amateur computer graphics/digital photography - primarily composite pictures of activities of the groups to which I belong.

At age 65 (it is never too late), I started singing lessons and discovered that somewhere inside I had a decent bass voice. So, I have since done two solos at church, and I sing in two choirs.

Enjoy leading groups on hiking and bike riding.

A lot of weight lifting, body building, other aerobics such as stair stepping, tread mill.

Design web pages.

Time with family and friends.

It's of course modified with different regulating circuits and WBT speaker terminals.
I also use an external regulated power supply that guarantee me a clean 230V AC
So now you know where I picked the name Lectron

Got any carbon fiber in there somewhere?

A lot of things, really. Scratchbuilding 1:32 scale slotcars is probably the oddest. Here's some of my more socially acceptable interests:

Man i have alot of things going on now, im sure ill have to give some of them up for the sake of time and money, but bikin will be with me for a while, as well as my art, where i design cars froms a block of clay, do a little custom metal frame fabrication, cosmetic kinda stuff, ill be sure to post pics once i finish that project, i like sketching and drawing, hate painting though, exept airbrush kinda stuff.
Im also a big time runner, i run neary 35 miles a week, I kinda of have to for the sake of sponsors. Im also a big time audiophile, on a small time budget, which is something i picked up while running and bikin alone, so i got into music, and even bought my self a guitar to make my own music but too busy to play lately. Also i used to play alot of video games, mostly racing games and war games, but that was all before biking, and now i rarely play any games. Im a big time movie buff as well, ive watched nearly every movie of my time, but that also takes up alot of time, so thats sure to go as well.
some smaller hobbies of mine-
working in photoshop
photography
snowboarding
most of all, im a huge car guy, love driving em, and like them all from classics to modern stuff, but im mostly a muscle car guy, and my dad I had even restored a 69' Dodge Charger (his car from when he was 16)a few years back and sold it not too long ago, made a nice profit, but i agreed to let it got for the sake of all my other expenses, mostly college related.
I think ive covered them all.

dude!

Ever tried one of these? I tried one in NYC last week. It's a hinged skateboard with rotating castors, the wave board. Very cool. Builds leg muscles.

Paul,
Wow, that's great! This is quite a treasure, you should guard them as they are gold. Tubing frames had to step aside in the late sixties for the better handling multi-hinged brass pan chassis - and then the slotcar bubble burst, to be replaced by R/C. But some of us who were kids back then have taken up the hobby again later as the old farts we are. We have established World Proxy Races, and send our cars around the world to race against each other. Here's the chassis I built for one of the last races:

One of the guys even had this building jig put in production in a very limited number:

College Basketball. I can watch only a few teams in college football start to finish, but can watch NorthEastern University of South Central Texas Southern play SoutWest Georgia Military Catholic College play anytime.

Homebrewing Beer. Has been a hobby for a few years now, and I picked up cycling to combat the weight I was putting on. I have a draft system set up in my garage, and many days I come home from cycling and pull off a cold one.

Sounds like you're an expert drafter (much different that a wheelsucker). AKA The Tavern Paceline?

What, you mean like when I'm done on the computer here, and done with school and fixed my bike to perfection and read everything around and played in orchestras and done recitals and practiced and drawn stuff and made wood things and listened to all my music (classical to early modern) and cleaned everything up and talked to those whom I want to talk to and and and and and
It seems like there's not much else, really.
