Wet shoes: any tips?
Got stuck in the rain halfway through a ride today and, needless to say, my shoes are drenched. On the postitive side, they're cleaner than I've seen them in a long time! I'm going out for a ride tomorrow, any tips on getting them dry or am I pretty much hosed?

If you have a small desk fan put the fan on high right in front of your shoes. It will go quicker if you tilt them up with a book so the fan blows inside the shoes. This will dry them overnight.

They should dry overnight if they're typical road shoes. Sticking them in front of a fan will help, especially if it's humid.

Many shoes have removeable inserts. Take them out and rinse them off in clean water and let them air dry. Then rinse your shoes off in clean water and brush off the road grit. Let them drip dry, then use the fan method suggested previously.
In case of lingering odors a little Arm & Hammer baking soda sprinkled inside each shoe should do the trick.

This has worked for me time and time again getting my shoes dried overnight. My only modification is stuffing them with newspaper, then in about 30 minutes, taking it all out and putting a fresh load of newspaper back in and leaving it till the next day.

Thanks for the tips, I'll give them all a shot. The weatherman said it was supposed to rain this morning and clear up this afternoon. No rain in the morning so I left at around 10:30 and got nailed around 12. Got back around 1:30 completely drenched. All in all it was a great ride, my first in the rain. I was really surprised that it didn't bother me more. What bugged me most was the all of the cars, in trying to be "more carefull", they seemed to drive by me more slowly and they seemed a heck of a lot closer than when it's dry. Weird.
