HELP FINDING CYCLOCOMPUTER THAT SHOWS TIME, SPEED & DISTANCE SIMULTANEOUSLY

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Cateye Double Wireless can do that, but it's not exactly cheap.

Do you not need HR because you already have a HRM or because you don't think it's useful? If you don't already have a HRM, then the Double Wireless actually becomes a good deal. Nice HRMs are pretty expensive on their own. I don't think you'll find anyone here who will tell you that a HRM isn't a useful training tool.

Anyway, how about this:

you could buy a cheap digital watch and strap it to the handlebar next to the computer. im asuming it already does speed and distance simultaniously. or just wear the watch...

The one that slvoid just showed on the bottom pic is a Planet Bike 9.0?
I currently use that on my tri bike and I love it! It has a large screen, shows everything simultaneously, includes a thermometer, and does not have buttons plastered all over it. I just bought my father one for Christmas last week, it was a whopping $24.

i use the planet bike 9.0. It's really great and does everything you wanted except for being wireless. There are actually 3 buttons on it, but they are on the back. Two of them are for setting the computer up, and the other one is the button that you actually use when riding. The neat thing is because it's on the back and the way the mount works, the whole computer slides up and down and is basically one huge button that you never really need to press.

How did you get the title all in caps that way? I thought there was a filter of some sort forbidding it.

hmmm...

panoram: too big (see original post)
VDO: great computer from what i've read, but it only has time of day, not ride time, unless you are willing to toggle out of distance
planet bike: doesn't appear to be wireless and i've heard it had questionable reliability, but a few posters here give it a thumbs up
DB4LW: again, potential, but also heard about reliability. at 20 bucks, hard to beat, just don't want it going down in a race

thanks for the advice thus far.

PS:
- i do think HRM training is valuable and i'm a tri guy so my HRM comes with me off the bike, thus no need for it to be integrated into my computer. as for cadence, i've come to know my cadence well and do not require any such capability
- as for caps... just typed them in and voila

thanks again... keep 'em coming if you have any other suggestions

The only thing on the planet bike that isn't reliable or very accurate is the thermometer. It is subject to heat coming off the road, and doesn't constantly check the temp. It updates the temp ever 2 minutes or so. Given that, it is usually correct plus or minus 3 degrees or so. I don't know why temp would be a very important metric to have, although it is nice to know a good ballpark number if it gets really hot out so you know to drink more and not over-do it. I won't ride if it's over 99 degrees out (hotter than body temp makes it very easy to get heat exhaustion/stroke), but if it gets that warm while i'm out there, it's nice to know so I can stop a bit longer at the water stops and sit in the shade and cool off.

The Vetta won't show you all of that. I had a PLanet Bike 8.0 and loved it. It died after about 5 years or so. I like to see speed, time of day, and distance at the same time and the Planet bike did that for me, and I am going to be getting a 9.0 and move my Vetta to my second bike. I just want to know the temp to brag about what I am riding in or to know if I am a wimp. The Planet Bike is not wireless but I haven't heard of any reliability issues.

Why in the world would anyone care so much about SPEED, TIME, and DISTANCE being displayed that they don't care about CADENCE!!!?? Are you serious?

uh... let's see... i never said i don't CARE about cadence, i just don't need toi SEE it.

i know when i'm spinning at 100 and i know when i'm at 60. why throw all that garbage on your bike, crank and chainstay just to see if i'm going 92 rpm vs 94 rpm. you ride enough and you'll also know within a couple of rotations how fast you're spinning.

I agree, I mean any computer that shows speed time and distance at the same time will be "full featured", and any full featured computer will also likely show cadence. So it has cadence, so what?

I love my Cateye double wireless. Its not very big, has a large speed readout, and it "remote" buttons that can be hooked up to the flightdeck buttons on the hoods. That's how I have mine set up and its very convenient.

Yeah you can tell, but its a nice reminder. Do you really need to see speed?

WHOA BOY I'M GOING FAST NOW I CAN'T WAIT TO GO TELL BIKE FORUMS.

Or distance, constantly?

20.0 miles
...
...
...
20.1 miles
...
...
...
...
20.2 miles

Of all of the cat 1/2 pro riders I know, they all ride with cadence visible at all times, and usually scroll through the other ones like time and distance. Speed is typically of little concern it really means nothing. You train based on what the heart rate or power is, and when you're racing all that matters is that you are keeping up / keeping away.

Needing to see time, speed, and distance all of the time simply boggles my mind. Press the button.

Also, I'd bet $100 you can't tell the difference between 100 and 105 or 105 and 110, etc. Let alone 92 and 94.
