Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Accelerade Taste

does the taste of lemon-lime taste good? Because i dont want to spend 50$ on a 56 can serving and not drink it.

i've only used gatorade, but the taste can't be that different. lemon-lime gatorade is probably the best flavor out there, so I would assume that lemon-lime accelerade tastes fine.

I prefer the orange flavor, but since I can't find it in my area anymore, I just buy the lemon flavor. For me, it is not too terrible as long as it is mixed right. I know some people complain about the taste, but opinions do vary. I think they make smaller serving containers, you might want to check those out before buying a larger container for more money.

merry xmas folks. Network Operations never is on vacation

Accelorade is by far the most vile product I have ever tasted - and having been in to supplementation for going on 20 yrs now & I've tried a lot of products.

I know of several people who've bought accelorade and been unable to drink it.

I use orange accelerade, and I think Jet-Man is insane.. out of any supplement I've ever taken (protein drinks, and creatine included) it is the most tolerable I've ever had... It is best when very very cold though. Someone here suggested freezing it the night before and drinking as it thawed on the ride. Works well.

Sure, it still tastes like a supplement, but it isn't too sweet (the problem I usually run into) and doesn't make me gag (the number 2 problem, I have a wussy stomach) and really hits the spot when you're tired...

I use the raspberry version of Accelerate and I like the flavor. Performance had a buy one get one free sale a while back so I picked up fruit punch (not tried yet) as well.

hit up some cycling buddies for a sample, most of them should be willing to part with a serving so that you can try it during a ride. That way you can determine if it works for you.

I suggest finding someone who already uses Accelerade and doing a taste test instead of going by our opinions. Ultimately, the best energy drink is the one you actually drink.

Other than the taste, the other trait it has is the indissoluability of the powder. It seems to settle at the bottom. Gatorade doesn't do that but Gatorade isn't a protien supplement either.

1st off why are you dropping 50.00, it is always on sale at Nashbar and Performance.. 29.99 at performance right now

https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=2412
https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...eid=&pagename=

You could also try a couple of the 12 serving cans at 9.99 and find out which one you prefer..

https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...eid=&pagename=

I would say the Lemon-Lime is OK.. I prefer Orange and Raspberry.. Fruit Punch is just plain terrible tasting..

My vote goes to fruit punch in both Accelerade and Endurox R4. Use a blender with R4, a shaker with Accelerade, but if you are a runner (too) and use this stuff, expect them to be unacceptably foamy from the bouncing around.

Hated it....plus it gave me stomach pains. Switched to Hammer products with better results. Sustained Energy and Hammer Gel. I'll try the HEED next.

I have a great dislike for the lemon-lime. Like others I prefer the orange. It tastes like a creamscicle in a bottle.....

It was gross; had to force it down just not to waste it. Also it is really hard to dissolve and can foam. Smells bad too...

I drink it at about 3/4 suggested strength or mix with Gatorade (my wife calls this concoction "accelligator") for the ride in hot weather. I have a tall glass over ice as a recovery drink. The protein component seems to unsettle my stomach a little if I mix it full strength for my ride.. I still feel that it's good stuff and makes for better recovery than doing without.

I have the blue raspberry and don't care for it too much. No matter how much you shake it, it still has those little "globbies" in it. Once this can is done I'm giong back to Cytomax and Hammer. Hit some buddies up for samples. You might like it. Everyone's taste is different.

Yuck!! I bought 3 cans (the big 28-serving ones) last year, and regretted it. Tastes horrible--like Dawn dish soap. The fruit punch is a bit better.

Accelerade really gunks up a water bottle. A few drops of dish soap and bleach in a bottle filled with warm water will dissolve it overnight.
Another thing, the hotter the day, the less palatable it is. It doesn't seem to satisfy thirst.

What taste good for one may not for another. Find someone who has it and decide for yourself.

On the other hand, I really dislike the taste of Accelerade in any flavor. Stuff is just nasty. I use Citomax now.

I threw mine out! I thought it was awful. Vile stuff.
Instead I like Extran Thirst Quencher, powdered Gator Aid, or Hyrafuel, always lemon-lime flavor.
The main difference is that Accelerade includes carbohydrates and these other drinks do not. I guess I just don't like carbohydrate drinks.

Huh.... Listen to what your saying man. All these sports drinks include carbs. The Accelerade has a spot of protein that lots of other energy or sports drinks do not have.

Humm- Ok, maybe it's the percentages and the protein. Not sure what it is but Accelerade turns my stomach and I have a hard time getting it down.

I've tried and like Orange, Blue Raspberry (?) and Fruit Punch. Dunno about the lemon flavor. It's my drink of choice when on the bike for more than an hour or two.

I have tried numerous sports drinks and Accelerade is the worst so far, nasty, pungent soapy taste to it. Currently I am drinking Cytomax and GU20 with good results.
