My understanding has been that you can buy numbers if you're not on the list. I thought that the organizers even allowed this. I didn't see anything on their web page addressing whether it's permitted or condoned. do you know if it's an accepted practice, and is there a web page that facilitates it?

I don’t know about 2006 but in the past the organizers frowned on transferring numbers – they wanted everybody registered under their real name.

I do know that people buy numbers. A friend of mine did so last year. There were even a couple that sold on EBAY last year. Here is a link to get things started. One thing the Freewheelers have to realize is that most of the numbers have always been taken by people around here since we can get the mail back the fastest. People that lived more than a few miles from here hardly had a chance. Maybe this new method is the start of things being a little more fair.

I got my mailing with the coveted “passcode” today. It came on a 8x11 sheet of paper folder over once – lime green in color. The reason that I mention this -- it’s easy to misinterpret it as a piece of junk mail. Registration begins online on Feb. 21st at 4pm EST.
According to the info on the sheet, the ability to register using the passcode is transferable.

regarding the non-member registrations, it mentions that club members have until Feb. 19 to register, so presumably the registration shuts down for a couple of days?

In case anyone is interested, the Freewheelers club member registration is over. They had 196 members register. So that leaves 804 spots up for grabs starting tomorrow.
