Nashbar cranksets

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nashbar cranksets

Hey guys,
There's a few Nashbar brand cranksets at Nashbar, and I was just wondering if anybody has one, and how it is. I'm looking at the ISIS double, somewhere around $45 now. It's 720 grams, maybe a little heavy, but not Bontrager sport heavy! I can rub off the Nashbar logo, lest I be taken for a loser
but otherwise it looks pretty good.
here it is:

What do you think? Or I could get the Truvativ Elita. Is that enough better to warrant +$30? Think major budget here--why else would I be considering a Nashbar crankset?

Do you have a BB already? Cuz the only one Nasbar has is going to double your investment

Here's a cheaper one, but much heavier

Um, good point. No I don't. I might be able to get one for less somewhere else. I don't mind spending money for something worth it, just not spending extra without cause. Yeah, so is the Truvativ crankset actually better or is it the name only I'm buying?

A very worn out shimano RSX triple. I could get just new rings, but that costs about as much as a crankset.....I want ISIS, too....

I am riding a NOVA Columbus Altec 2 frame, Alpha Q ex fork, RSX/Matrix wheels, RSX brifters, Ultegra r.dr, RSX other. My frame and fork are way better than my components, so I'm starting with the crankset.

The nashbar double I had ended up not being true and the Nashbar ISIS BB stripped out. I'm going with the Truvativ now and no problems.

I use a Nashbar Compact Crank (Made by RPM) on one of my bikes. I use it with the FSA ISIS bottom bracket and it works fine.

I installed the same crankset on my wife's bike with the Nashbar Bottom bracket and it too works fine.

I too am using the Nashbar compact double and I've had no problems what-so-ever. If you stripped threads, I would suspect that the installation was the problem, not the crankset itself. To correct the above slightly, RPM makes the chainrings, but Nashbar makes the crankarm. The whole thing's a bit heavy, but the RPM rings are surprisingly good and I'm really happy with it. I'm using a FSA Platinum Pro BB and the combo is almost as good as my other Ultegra crank/BB setup. Both are plenty stiff for hammering out of the saddle.

I don't get this stigma against Nashbar products. I've been pleasently surprised with the quality of everything I've ordered, especially considering the price.
