Another hazard when riding on the strand is guys (whether on bikes or not) rubbernecking at all of the eye candy and not paying attention to where they're headed. Of course I've never been guilty of it and concentrate fully on riding ;)

For the love of God!

Do I have to say this every month!!!!!

THIS IS THE ROAD SUB-FORUM!!!!!!

Ride your bike on a roadway like a man! If you don't have the testicles to ride on the road, at least have the common decency to post your pathetic sniveling about having your carbon fiber mussed by the ineptitude of some cycling street urchin posted in the 'Family and Recreation' sub forum where this CRAP BELONGS!

John

Do not file a claim on your homeowner's insurance. (may very well not be covered anyway on the homeowner's policy). Small claims on homeowner's policies can adversely affect not only your insurance rates, but your ability to even get homeowner's insurance. I know it's lousy to not get the benefit of what you paid for, but it's reality. Better strategy is take a really high deductible on your homeowners, like $5,000, and only file major claims like when the house burns down.

LOL, you would first have to show a command of the English language, as I think your "missin sum" letters: Like a "G" and an "H".

"Strait" =

"Straighten" =

The problem with ignorance is that you don't know that you don't know.

Better leave the tending to the "*******" to someone else. :p

just because you take the time to hit the google spell checker does not account for much

Yeah sorry about that, you left yourself wide open with the comment on the *******. It reminded me of a clip I saw from a Jerry Springer show: The guy says, " my job is to take care of them darn *******". "They aint got themselves nooo smarts"......Hmmm, OK. Makes you wonder about who is looking after who?

Brilliant come back BTW.

Cheers, enjoy the ride.

How the hell do i get around you,you know you are on a BIKEPATH where bike are? The boy says our coach says we have as much right up here as you do. I'm now going to e-mail every fricken high school around here and tell them i dont give a rats a$$ if they run up there but stay in one fricken lane and we all can be happy. This has been getting worst for the last 2-3 years. They have kinda taking over the bikepath.

Now I remember why I dislike teens. They're so insecure and take every chance they can to be antagonistic and I was one only a few years ago! I guess the same can be said of some cyclists too. Tough world we live in.

Seems to work for me. 'Course, the only time I really have to announce is on a MUP that has lots of experienced cyclists, so they "get it".

It works most of the times but people usually don't know what it means! They turn to look first. So I have to do it a while back to give them time and then really have to yell it out. Sometimes I just set the limit on my HRM really low so won't stop beeping. That really gets people's attention, unless they're one of those idiots who rollerblade with headphones....

Grr...

Anyway, just wondering how you guys would handle this. Just see it as a learning experience? Ask him for reimbursement of parts costs and injuries? Small claims court?

He turned into you. It's his fault. I would have called the police on the spot and file a report. Even is the cops don't come out, it's on record that you called and spoke to Sergeant or Captain so-and-so. If he looks like he has money and you look like you have a case, sue him and take him to court.

Yeah MUPs are not as safe as they look. It's like a circus - cross country ski trainers, rollerblades with headphones, guy with a unicycle reading a book with a following dog (seriously).

Seriously! Watch out! I don't think a bell is too far out of line for MUP rides.

"Why must I be surrounded by fricken idiots?"

Maybe I'll mount a really loud air horn to the bars. Some idiots deserve to be alerted rudely, for example people that stand in the bike path having a conversation, oblivious to what's going on around them. Or surfers with 10ft boards that take their sweet time when walking across the path.

TnDiamondback 01-11-06 07:16 PM

Is the road sub-forum for riding road bikes ANYWHERE? Or, for riding ANY TYPE of bicycle only on the road? Lighten up a little, we're just a bunch of bicycle nuts sharing our addiction with each other.

rnorris 01-11-06 07:37 PM

You're lucky. I got hit by a cyclist who took a blind turn wide on a MUP. I went down, he didn't, he left me on the ground with a broken collarbone, cracked ribs and shredded skin. I don't ride busy sections of MUPs anymore except at night, which weeds out most casual riders and pedestrians. The remainder show up in my lights, and fellow cyclists with lights aren't a problem.

Brilliant!!!! Blow the air horn at a surfer so he spins around and takes you out with his longboard. Can we get that on film? That would be hilarious.....

Nachoman 01-11-06 09:52 PM

I use bell warning when riding on bike paths. It tends to remove the last second panic element when you pass them.
