How light(heavy) is your bike?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Upon a professional weigh-in at the LBS, a Miyata 6speed weighs 28lb. The bathroom-scale method was 2 lbs off.

Mas pics!
Raven - was that 18 lb mark with the bike equipped?

The Le Champion was advertised at 15.2 lbs if memory serves (unknown size); mine weighed 15.6 lbs out of the box without pedals (56 cm). I haven't weighed it since the day it arrived, so I don't know what it is fully equipped.

18 pounds is as shown minus the saddle bag. The Neuvations are much heavier, plus the weight of the pedals. I also had to replace my bottom bracket and the only one available was pretty heavy. Thats how I went from about 15.6 pounds to 18 pounds. The Neuvations roll really well though and hold their speed tremendously well. I feel like they perform better than their weight would indicate.

Ah, finally get to see the 'dale with the new shoes! Looks nice. As requested no comment on the green bar tape. (just kidding) Nice ride! I was going to try and make the Sunday ride tommorow but I have a bachelor party tonight. I have a feeling I'm not going to be up for riding in the morning....

My Rivendell Romulus is 27 lbs. My Surly Long Haul Trucker with Surly Nice Racks front and rear is about 34. When someone shows up at a club ride with an ultra-light bike that makes everyone else who lifts it feel that theirs is way too heavy, they've learned to ask if they could lift mine--just so they once again feel better about theirs.

My LeMond Poprad is almost 22 with the cross wheelset on it. Weighed it at a local shop that had a workstand with a scale built into it, pretty cool. I'm noticeably lighter with my road wheelset on.

The bike is stock except I got a lighter saddle, lost the bar-top brake levers, and replaced the handlebars with something lighter and narrower (the stock bars were 46).
