Nast crash in North Wales today - top of BBC news

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Living in a huge tourist area here in Northern Minnesota our town's population increases by about 50,000 on weekends in the warmer months. Lots of drivers unfamilar with the area and not paying attention to whats going on a round them on the roads. I've seen a lot of road bike forum members dissing cyclists who use paved bike trails but for this reason and the idea of never coming out on top in a crash makes me glad I have a paved bike trail right out my back door.

God, that's horrible.

My condolences to the friends and families of the people who were killed.
